Food labels made for real storage and selling conditions
Food packaging is handled more than many small-business owners expect. A jar of jam may go from kitchen prep to a refrigerator, then to a bazaar table, then into a customer’s bag. Sauces can sweat when chilled, snack packs can rub against other items on a shelf, and baked goods boxes may be handled repeatedly during pickup or delivery. For these conditions, we recommend PP White or Matte White waterproof sticker material with a permanent acrylic adhesive for smooth glass and plastic containers.
For most food brands, choose between two main looks: glossy laminate if you want strong color, shine, and a retail-ready pop; or matte laminate if you want a softer artisan look for jams, baked goods, pantry items, and premium-looking small-batch products. Both options help protect the print from handling, light scuffing, and moisture exposure better than unlaminated indoor paper-type materials.
Which material should you choose?
For jars, bottles, and refrigerated items
For jam jars, chili garlic bottles, salad dressings, sauces, and other products that may be refrigerated, use PP waterproof material instead of Regular Satin or Hi-gloss indoor material. If the label will wrap around a curved container, ask about PP Glossy White 2 or PP Matte White 2 for curved containers and waterproof applications. For products that are refrigerated or harder to stick, PP Glossy White 3 is the stronger option listed for refrigerated or frozen products and hard-to-stick surfaces requiring maximum adhesion.
For dry snacks, baked goods, and pantry products
For cookie boxes, snack pouches, dry ingredient packs, and pantry items stored indoors, PP Glossy White 1 or PP Matte White 1 is usually a practical starting point when the surface is smooth. Regular Satin and Hi-gloss can work only for dry indoor labels on flat surfaces, but they are not waterproof, so they are not ideal if the product may meet condensation, damp storage, or oily handling.
For clear packaging
If you use transparent pouches, clear bottles, or packaging where you want the product to show through, PP Clear/Transparent can create a no-background label effect. It is useful for simple logos, flavor names, window-style designs, and minimalist packaging. Keep in mind that light-colored text on a clear label may need stronger contrast depending on the food color behind it.
How to size food labels correctly
Before ordering, measure the actual container, not just the supplier’s stated size. For jars and bottles, measure the straight wall height, meaning the flat vertical area before the shoulder, curve, or taper begins. Keep the label inside this straight area so the edges do not lift on curves.
For wrap labels, measure the container circumference with a flexible tape, then subtract a small gap so the label ends do not overlap unless you intentionally want an overlap. A gap also makes hand application easier because you can align the front panel without forcing the material around the whole container. For pouches, bags, and boxes, measure the flat panel area where the label will sit and avoid seals, folds, gussets, crimped edges, and areas that bend when filled.
Leave room for important food information, barcode or price stickers if used, and any batch code or expiry date that will be stamped or handwritten after printing. If the label is small, prioritize readability: product name, variant, net content, and key selling points should be visible without crowding the ingredient and manufacturer information.
What can go wrong, and how to prevent it
- Peeling on curved jars or bottles: Use a label size that stays within the straight wall, and choose PP material suited for curved containers when needed.
- Condensation from refrigeration: Use waterproof PP instead of non-waterproof indoor materials, and let the container surface dry before applying labels.
- Oil or sauce residue: Apply labels only to clean, dry packaging. Oil on glass or plastic can weaken adhesion at the edges.
- Scuffing during retail handling: Add glossy or matte laminate to protect the print surface from regular handling and rubbing.
- Fading or low contrast: Use high-resolution artwork and enough contrast between text and background, especially for small ingredient lists and date markings.
Artwork checklist for food sticker labels
Send print-ready artwork as PDF, PNG, or AI at 300 DPI to hello@stickercentral.ph. Our maximum print area is 13 x 19 inches per sheet, and we can produce custom shapes and contour cuts for logos, seals, tamper-style accents, and product callouts.
- Use the exact label size you plan to order.
- Keep text away from trim and rounded corners.
- Prepare separate variants clearly, such as flavor, weight, or product line.
- Use readable font sizes for ingredients and manufacturer details.
- Leave clear space for lot or batch identification and date marking if these are stamped or handwritten after printing.
- Include only finished, approved spelling for product names and claims.
For regulatory planning, many food sellers ask about product name, net content, ingredient list, name and address of manufacturer or distributor, lot or batch identification, and date marking such as best before or expiry. Prepackaged food sold in the Philippines is covered by FDA Administrative Order No. 2014-0030 on labelling of prepackaged food. Please confirm current requirements directly with FDA Philippines or your regulatory adviser before final printing.
How ordering works
You have two ordering options. With Self Service, you can order online without waiting for a quotation: choose the sticker size and specs, upload your artwork or make it with the AI Design Generator, set the cut and quantity, then check out. If you need help comparing materials, finishes, or quantities, choose the quotation route: create an account, request a quotation, send artwork, approve the proof, then we print and ship.
For design, you may create your own artwork using the AI Design Generator while ordering. You may also ask our design team to prepare the layout in Canva or Photoshop, quoted on request. Minor edits are free, such as small text corrections or simple layout adjustments before proof approval.
Production is 1-3 days after proof approval, with a 1 PM cutoff for same-day shipping. We ship via J&T Express: Luzon 1-3 days, Visayas 3-5 days, and Mindanao 4-7 days. Payment options include Maya Checkout, Cash on Delivery via J&T Express, bank transfer through BDO, RCBC, EastWest, or BPI, and GCash. For cost, request a quotation because pricing depends on size, quantity, material, and finish.
