Labels made for coffee pouches, not just generic stickers
Coffee packaging gets handled a lot: picked up from shelves, squeezed to check the roast date, packed for delivery, and sometimes stored near espresso machines or refrigerators. For retail coffee pouches, drip bag packs, and single-origin releases, the label needs to stay neat even with shop humidity and repeated handling. For cold brew bottles and cafe add-ons, it also needs to handle condensation better than ordinary paper labels.
For most coffee pouch labels, we recommend PP Matte White or PP Glossy White with permanent adhesive. PP is a waterproof film material, so it is a safer choice than Regular Satin or Hi-gloss if your pouches may be exposed to damp counters, delivery coolers, or humid cafe storage. Regular Satin and Hi-gloss can still work for dry indoor flat labels, but they are not the practical pick for coffee brands that want one label setup across pouches, boxes, and bottle promos.
Choosing the right material and finish
| Use case | Suggested setup | Why it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Retail coffee pouch front label | PP Matte White 1 or PP Glossy White 1 | Good for smooth indoor packaging and everyday shelf handling. |
| Kraft or textured pouch surface | PP Matte White 2 or PP Glossy White 2 | Better option when the surface is rougher or more curved around the filled pouch. |
| Cold brew bottle label or refrigerated coffee item | PP Glossy White 3 | Suited for refrigerated or harder-to-stick applications where stronger adhesion is needed. |
| Minimal clear-window packaging | PP Clear/Transparent | Useful for no-background designs where you want the pouch or product color to show through. |
For finish, choose matte laminate if your brand direction is specialty coffee, minimalist, craft, or earthy. Matte reduces shine and makes black, cream, brown, and muted color palettes look more premium. Choose glossy laminate if you sell in stores, bazaars, or cafe counters where stronger color and shelf shine help the pack stand out. Holographic, Broken Glass, Snow Flakes, and Glitter finishes are available, but use them carefully for limited-edition blends or promo seals so they do not distract from roast information.
How to size a coffee pouch label
Start by measuring the flat front panel of your pouch, not the full bag width including side gussets or sealed edges. Leave breathing room around the label so it does not cross into folds, heat seals, zipper areas, degassing valves, or tear notches. A label that sits fully on the flat panel has a better chance of staying smooth when the pouch is filled.
If you use a separate back label, measure the flat back panel and reserve space for mandatory product details, brewing notes, barcode, QR code, batch code, and date marking. If your batch code or expiry date is stamped or handwritten after printing, keep a clean blank area with enough contrast so it remains readable.
For wrap-style labels on cold brew bottles or cafe cups, measure the container circumference and subtract a small gap so the label ends do not overlap. Also measure the straight wall height only; avoid tapered shoulders, ridges, and curves because these areas can cause lifting or wrinkling. For pouches with rounded corners or shaped branding labels, custom contour cuts are available within the maximum print area of 13 x 19 inches per sheet.
What can go wrong, and how to prevent it
- Peeling on folds and curves: keep the label on the flat panel and avoid gussets, zippers, and pouch seams. For rougher or curved surfaces, consider PP White 2 options.
- Condensation damage: use waterproof PP instead of non-waterproof indoor materials, especially for cold brew bottles or refrigerated coffee products.
- Scuffing from handling: add matte or glossy lamination to protect the print from normal rubbing during packing, shelf display, and delivery.
- Unreadable roast and batch details: leave a clear, light-colored area for stamping or handwriting after printing.
- Design distortion: do not place small text or thin borders near curved edges, seals, or pouch folds.
Artwork checklist for coffee pouch labels
- Send artwork as PDF, PNG, or AI at 300 DPI to hello@stickercentral.ph.
- Include your product name, roast or variant, net content, and any required business information you need on the pack.
- For prepackaged food sold in the Philippines, check FDA Administrative Order No. 2014-0030 on labelling of prepackaged food and confirm current requirements with FDA Philippines.
- Common label elements buyers ask about include product name, net content, ingredient list, name and address of manufacturer or distributor, lot or batch identification, and date marking such as best before or expiry.
- Keep a blank area for batch codes and expiry dates if these are stamped or handwritten after printing.
- Use high contrast for roast date, grind type, origin, processing method, and brewing instructions so customers can read them quickly.
- For contour-cut labels, avoid putting important text too close to the cut line.
