Labels made for wet shampoo packaging
Shampoo packaging is harder on labels than many dry products. Bottles are squeezed, gripped with wet hands, left in humid shower areas, and exposed to shampoo or conditioner residue. A paper-like indoor sticker may look fine at first, but it can wrinkle, lift at the edges, or lose its clean retail look once the bottle is used.
For shampoo labels, the recommended setup is PP White waterproof material with a permanent adhesive for HDPE and PET bottles. PP film is a practical choice because it is built for wet packaging and smooth plastic containers. For most shampoo brands, choose glossy PP for a brighter mass-retail look, or matte PP when you want a softer salon-grade finish.
Which material should you choose?
| Use case | Suggested option | Why it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Everyday shampoo bottles for indoor retail | PP Glossy White 1 or PP Matte White 1 | Waterproof white PP for smooth bottles and clean packaging presentation. |
| Curved bottles, bathroom use, or bottles handled often | PP Glossy White 2 or PP Matte White 2 | Better suited for curved containers, rougher surfaces, waterproof applications, and frequent handling. |
| Hard-to-stick plastic or demanding adhesion needs | PP Glossy White 3 | Recommended when maximum adhesion is needed on challenging surfaces. |
| Clear bottle with a no-label look | PP Clear/Transparent | Works for transparent packaging and designs where you do not want a white background. |
| Dry outer boxes or flat inserts only | Regular Satin or Hi-gloss | Economical indoor options, but not waterproof, so they are not recommended for wet shampoo bottles. |
If your product line includes conditioner twins, choose the same material family for both shampoo and conditioner labels so the set looks consistent. If one bottle is exposed to more residue or handling than the other, it is safer to use the stronger waterproof PP option across the full pair instead of mixing materials.
Glossy vs matte for shampoo branding
Glossy finish works well for retail shelves, bright colors, hotel amenity bottles, and labels that need a clean, shiny look under store lighting. It can make colors appear more vibrant and is a familiar finish for many mass-market bath products.
Matte finish gives a softer, more premium feel that suits salon bottles, minimalist brands, and spa-style shampoo lines. Matte can reduce glare, which helps when the label has fine typography, but it may show scuffs differently from gloss depending on handling.
Other lamination options include holographic, broken glass, snow flakes, and glitter. These are better used as accent looks for promotional releases or limited variants, not as the default choice when your priority is simple readability and a professional shampoo range.
How to size shampoo labels correctly
Before ordering, measure the exact container you will use. Shampoo bottles can look similar but have different shoulder curves, squeezable panels, and label-safe areas. A label that fits one bottle may wrinkle or peel on another if it reaches the curved shoulder or a heavily squeezed area.
For wrap labels
- Measure the straight wall height, meaning the flat vertical area between the shoulder curve and the bottom curve.
- Measure the bottle circumference around the label area using a flexible tape or paper strip.
- Subtract a small gap so the label ends do not overlap. Overlap can create a raised edge that catches water and fingers.
- Keep important text away from the seam and from areas where the bottle curves.
For front-and-back labels
- Identify the flat front panel and flat back panel.
- Measure the usable width and height without including the curved side edges.
- Leave room for the bottle shoulder, base curve, barcode if needed, and any batch or date coding area.
- For conditioner twins, keep the label size and placement consistent so the pair lines up on shelf.
For refill pouches
Measure the flat panel while the pouch is filled or shaped close to how it will be displayed. Avoid placing small text too close to heat seals, gussets, and folds because these areas may distort or wrinkle when the pouch stands up.
What can go wrong, and how to prevent it
- Peeling on curves: Keep labels on the straight wall or flat panel, and use PP material with permanent adhesive for HDPE and PET bottles.
- Edge lifting from wet handling: Avoid label overlap, keep corners away from squeeze zones, and choose waterproof PP instead of non-waterproof indoor paper-like materials.
- Residue and scuffing: Shampoo and conditioner residue can make labels look dirty faster. Glossy can be easier to wipe visually, while matte gives a softer look but may show rub marks differently.
- Unreadable small text: Bathroom lighting, curved bottles, and wet handling make tiny copy harder to read. Use clear contrast and reserve enough space for required and practical product information.
- Fading or worn-looking graphics: Use proper 300 DPI artwork and choose the finish based on where the product will be stored and handled.
Artwork checklist for shampoo labels
- Send artwork as PDF, PNG, or AI at 300 DPI to hello@stickercentral.ph.
- Include the product name and product function clearly on the main panel.
- Prepare space for the ingredient list, net content, country of manufacture, name and address of the company responsible, batch number, and manufacturing or expiry date if these apply to your label plan.
- For small hotel amenity bottles or travel-size shampoo, check whether some information may be placed on an outer box or leaflet instead of the tiny container label.
- Keep text away from die-cut edges, seams, shoulders, gussets, and bottle squeeze zones.
- Use separate files or clearly named artboards for shampoo and conditioner twins to avoid mixing variants.
- Indicate whether you want rectangle, oval, round, wrap, front-and-back, or custom contour cut labels.
Cosmetics sold in the Philippines follow ASEAN Cosmetic Directive labelling requirements administered by FDA Philippines. These notes are only planning pointers; confirm current requirements and what must appear on the container itself with FDA Philippines before final printing.
How ordering works
You can order in two ways. With Self Service, order online without waiting for a quotation: choose the sticker size and specs, upload your artwork or create it using the AI Design Generator, set the cut and quantity, then check out. This works well when you already know your label size, material, and finish.
If you need pricing guidance for a specific size, quantity, material, and finish, choose the quotation route. Create an account, request a quotation, send your artwork, approve the proof, then we print and ship. For any cost question, request a quotation so the estimate matches your actual shampoo label specifications.
Design options are flexible. You may make artwork with the AI Design Generator while ordering, ask our design team to prepare a layout in Canva or Photoshop with quotation on request, or send an existing design for free minor edits. Payment options include Maya Checkout, Cash on Delivery via J&T Express, bank transfer through BDO, RCBC, EastWest, or BPI, and GCash.
