Chemical labels made for real packaging use
Chemical product labels have to do more than look clean on the shelf. For cleaning bottles, industrial containers, automotive fluids, and household refills, the label may be touched with wet hands, wiped during repacking, stacked in boxes, or exposed to product splash. If the wrong material is used, the sticker can soften, peel on curved areas, or lose important warning text.
For most chemical packaging, we recommend PP White waterproof material with durable lamination. PP film is more suitable than paper-based indoor stocks when bottles are stored in damp areas or handled in warehouses. For the adhesive, use a permanent adhesive for HDPE and coated containers, especially when labeling plastic bottles, jerrycans, pails, and smooth coated packaging.
Recommended material, adhesive, and finish
| Packaging situation | Suggested setup | Why it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Cleaning bottles and household refills | PP Matte White 2 or PP Glossy White 2 with laminate | Good for waterproof applications, curved containers, and labels that are handled often. |
| Industrial containers and jerrycans | PP Glossy White 2 with glossy or matte lamination | Helps protect printed warnings from scuffing during storage and transport. |
| Automotive fluids and oily environments | PP White film with durable laminate | A laminated surface helps reduce smearing and keeps the label easier to wipe. |
| Hard-to-stick or cold-storage items | PP Glossy White 3 | Use when maximum adhesion is needed for difficult surfaces or refrigerated/frozen conditions. |
Glossy laminate gives a sharper, shinier look and is easy to wipe. Matte laminate reduces glare, which can help make hazard text, directions, and batch details easier to read under warehouse lights. Decorative laminates such as holographic, broken glass, snow flakes, and glitter are available, but for chemical labels, matte or glossy is usually the practical choice because warning information must remain clear.
Regular Satin and Hi-gloss are economical indoor materials, but they are not waterproof. They are better reserved for dry cartons, sample tags, or indoor flat surfaces that will not be wiped or splashed.
How to size labels for chemical containers
For wrap labels on bottles and refills
Measure the container’s straight wall height first. This is the flat vertical area before the shoulder, taper, curve, or base begins. Your label height should fit inside that straight area so the edges do not lift on curved plastic.
For the label width, measure the circumference around the bottle where the label will sit, then subtract a small gap so the ends do not overlap. A gap helps prevent edge lifting, makes manual application easier, and gives space for the container seam if present.
For jerrycans, pails, and industrial containers
Use the flat front panel as your guide. Measure only the area that stays flat when the container flexes or is carried. Avoid placing important text across molded ridges, handles, corners, recessed areas, or textured sections because these can reduce adhesion and readability.
Leave room for required and practical details
Plan space for the product name, variant, volume, hazard statements, first-aid instructions, directions, manufacturer or distributor details, batch or lot information, and barcode if used. Household and urban hazardous substances are regulated by FDA Philippines, so confirm current label requirements with FDA Philippines before final printing.
What can go wrong and how to prevent it
- Peeling on curves: Labels that run onto shoulders, corners, or tapered sides can lift. Keep the sticker within the straight wall or flat panel, and use PP White 2 or PP White 3 when adhesion demands are higher.
- Condensation and damp storage: Paper stocks can weaken when exposed to moisture. PP waterproof material is the safer choice for chemical bottles and refill containers stored in humid or wet areas.
- Chemical splash or wiping: Unlaminated print can wear faster when containers are wiped. Matte or glossy lamination adds a protective layer that helps keep warning text readable.
- Oil and residue: Adhesive bonds poorly on oily surfaces. Clean and dry the container before application, and avoid labeling areas where product overflow commonly runs.
- Scuffing in warehouses: Cartons, crates, and nearby containers can rub against labels. Lamination helps protect the print during ordinary handling and stacking.
- Fading or low contrast: Use strong contrast for warning text and avoid putting small safety instructions over busy backgrounds.
Artwork checklist for chemical label stickers
- Send files as PDF, PNG, or AI at 300 DPI to hello@stickercentral.ph.
- Keep hazard statements and first-aid instructions large enough to read after printing.
- Use high contrast for warnings, directions, and precautionary text.
- Keep essential text away from cut lines, curves, seams, and bottle ridges.
- Indicate the final size, shape, quantity, material, and laminate preference.
- For wrap labels, mark the front panel area so the main brand and hazard information lands where you want it.
- Confirm current FDA Philippines requirements for household and urban hazardous substances before approval.
Our maximum print area is 13 x 19 inches per sheet. Custom shapes and contour cuts are available, so you can order rectangle wrap labels, separate front-and-back labels, round cap seals, or special warning stickers depending on your container.
How ordering works
Option 1: Self Service
You can order online without waiting for a quotation. Choose the sticker size and specifications, upload your artwork or create it using the AI Design Generator, set the cut and quantity, then check out. This works well when your size, material, and file are ready.
Option 2: Request a quotation
If you need help choosing material, laminate, quantity, or shape, create an account and request a quotation. Send your artwork, approve the proof, and we will print and ship after approval. Pricing is quoted per order based on size, quantity, material, and finish, so use the Request a quotation button for cost questions.
For design, you can make your own artwork with the AI Design Generator while ordering. You can also ask our design team to create the layout in Canva or Photoshop, quoted on request. Minor edits are free, useful for small text changes, spacing adjustments, or file corrections before proof approval.
